For the first time since 2008, the Olympics will be without Alex Morgan.
On June 26, the United States Women's National Team revealed that Morgan will not be a member of the 2024 Paris Olympics roster, a surprising move that leaves the veteran home come July.
Morgan is a two-time Olympic medalist, helping the USWNT secure a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic games and a Bronzemedal in 2021. Morgan, a staple of the international team, has also helped guide the USWNT to FIFA Women's World Cup victories in 2015 and 2019.
Still, Morgan's omission left quite a mark on the sports world which was hoping to see No. 13 on the world's biggest stage.
Morgan has struggled to score goals during the 2024 NWSL slate. In eight matches with the San Diego Wave this season, Morgan has yet to find the net. That's a troubling trend for Morgan, who also failed to score a goal in pool play in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
What is Alex Morgan's age?
Alex Morgan is 34 years old and will turn 35 on July 2.
